Building a Log house

This is the little cabin we are working on.

First step: Preparing a log to get cut ... one have to sign the upper log so that it will fit with the other one.

Second step: Cut the ends.

Third step: Cut the middle part.

After some tests in between ... the new log is finished and got its place ( this one was signed by me! ).

My first flight in an ultra light plane

With Marielle ( originally from Quebec ) i got the chance to have a short flight over Dawson ... it was absolutely fantastic!!

Preparation to take off ... undressing the plane.

View to Tombstone mountains.

The traces from the cold diggers!

The cockpit.

View under me ... nice little and - i guess - cold lakes.

Mmmmm, does it make me feel better?

Dawson City Airport.

Here we are on the way to reach the landing strip.

Just a little bit closer.

And ... we did it!

My pilot ... Marielle.

I look quiete happy to have save ground under my feet again :-)

Wildlife in the bush

During my walks through the bush i could see some animals ... still no bear ... only a trace from a wolf.

Those falcons are around the main cabin ... they just started with their flying classes.

And this one ... we have no idea what it is ... could be???? I'm looking forward to hear some suggestions.

Yes, autumn is coming with each day ... and the colores are changing extremely fast!

No worries ... these are just paw marks from Bella.

And this is her favourit animal to hunt for .... a squirrel.

From Dawson up to Eagle / Alaska

Together with a german family we did a trip on the Yukon River up to Eagle / Alaska. The clients were in the canoes and Gerard and myself in the motor boat with all the equipement.

Far away you can see the two little canoes on this big river.

Sometimes we had wonderful weather with a fantastic view.

Bella sleeping on my lifejacket during a break.

Approaching a fishing wheel ...

... but there is nearly no salmon in the Yukon anymore!

Fourty miles ... around 1900 a "big" town during the goldrush ...

... and this was the general store.

Another old house which was in a quiet good shape.

Followed by thunder we had a wonderful rainbow over ...

... the confluence of Fourty Mile River and the Yukon.

Viewed at a closed fisher camp.

That's the border between Canada and America on the Yukon River ... yes, we just entered America without showing our passports or anything else!

First view over Eagle / Alaska.

Bella and me during the little lunch break in Eagle in front of the general store ...

... accompanied by our frozen salmon.

Last impression from the Yukon river.

A view from the Top of the world highway.

The ferry back to Dawson.
